Summer Research Opportunities For Minority Students
|
The Minority Affairs Committee, in collaboration with the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) Minority Access to Research Career (MARC) Program, offers the Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP) for Minority Students. The Program will offer Summer Research Opportunities to support the growth of promising minority undergraduate students wishing to spend eight weeks during the summer 2008 recess studying endocrine research and learning new research techniques in the labs of Society members. Students and mentors selected to receive an SROP award will be provided with funding to supplement and/or cover the travel and subsistence expenses at their host universities. APPLICATIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED Minority undergraduate students from around the country are encouraged to apply. A full list of eligibility and requirements are provided below. If you wish to participate but are in need of assistance in connecting with a mentor, please consult the mentor database at the link provided below. Students identifying mentors from this database are responsible for selecting and contacting mentors directly. FASEB MARC SROP Eligibility, Requirements and Application Form As an added benefit to students wishing to participate in the SROP, the Committee offers to assist students with locating potential mentors. Volunteer members are being sought to participate in this program. Mentors are asked to submit bio information and a brief statement expressing their interest in minority outreach activities. Students provided with mentor information, will be responsible for selecting and contacting potential mentors. Click the link below to view a list of available mentors and their contact and biographical information and research areas of study available for summer internships. If you are interested in hosting a student for the summer at your institution, please complete the mentor bio information form and return it to Kirsta Suggs at mac@endo-society.org. The success of this program very much depends on your participation and support.
