Outreach at Conferences of Minority Related Organizations
|
The Minority Affairs Committee (MAC) continues its outreach efforts by promoting MAC goals, programs and volunteer opportunities at conferences and seminars of other minority-related organizations throughout the year. During these conferences, MAC representatives participate in disseminating information on MAC and Society programs, recruiting for membership into the Society and networking with colleagues and potential speakers for Endocrine Society meetings. Additionally, MAC representatives judge endocrine-related posters and select the top-scoring presentations to receive awards on behalf of The Endocrine Society. Latest News: In November 2011, MAC members represented the Society at the 2011 Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) in St. Louis, Missouri. Four students received cash awards, certificates, complimentary two year membership in The Endocrine Society, complimentary two-year on-line subscriptions to Endocrine Reviews for posters featuring endocrine-related topics. These students were judged on the quality of their research, presentation of their data, and their ability to answer difficult questions. Congratulations to this year's winners: Kevin Alicea, The University of Puerto Rico at Humacao
Tamara Escajadillo, The Sewer Lab
Emmanuel Gonzalez, Florida International University
Kimberly Stratford, North Carolina A&T State University
