NEW in 2011! Minority Affairs Community Forum Date: Monday, June 6, 2011 Time: 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Location: Boston Convention & Exhibition Center The ENDO 2011 Minority Affairs Community Forum, a new initiative hosted by the Society’s Minority Affairs Committee, served to increase awareness of the Society’s current minority affairs programs, encourage the exchange of ideas among minority members of the Society, and help the Society better assess the needs of the minority constituency.
ENDO 2011 Minority Student and Trainee Luncheon
Date: Saturday, June 4, 2011 Time: 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Location: Westin Hotel The Minority Student and Trainee Luncheon hosted undergraduate students participating in the Minority Access Program and from universities and colleges in the Boston area. The activity was organized and sponsored by the Minority Affairs Committee (MAC). Minority graduate students who attended ENDO 2011 were also invited to the luncheon in which trainees were presented with an introduction & overview of ENDO by President Kelly Mayo and President-Elect Janet Hall. Students also received an in-depth endocrine presentation by Dr. Ignacio Camarillo. MAC members advised trainees to acknowledge the topics and programs of interest presented at ENDO and helped them prioritize which events to attend in order to ensure trainees had the best ENDO experience. ENDO 2011 Minority Mentoring and Poster Reception
Date: Sunday, June 5, 2011 Time: 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Westin Hotel
The 2011 Minority Mentoring and Poster Reception was a networking opportunity for minority students, postdocs, fellows and junior faculty to connect with mentors addressing various topics and the career challenges they face.
The reception also gave trainees the opportunity to showcase their research and receive valuable feedback from renowned scientists in the field, Society members and other trainees who shared similar interests. During the reception, volunteer judges scored each poster and identified four trainees to receive cash awards for excellence in endocrine-related research.
