The meeting takes place in San Diego, CA, June 19-22, 2010. The new Officers and Council members are: • Janet E. Hall, MD: President-Elect Dr. Hall will serve as President-Elect in 2010-2011 and then serve as President in 2011-2012. Currently a professor at Harvard Medical School and an affiliate faculty member in the school’s Division of Sleep Medicine, she is also an associate physician in the Medical Service and an associate chief in the Reproductive Endocrine Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital. Active in the Society since 1992, her most recent leadership activity includes serving as the Clinical Science Vice President and as a member of the Annual Meeting Steering Committee (AMSC). She has served as chair of the Society’s Nominating Committee, four terms as chair of the Clinical Endocrine Update-- Reproductive Endocrine Section, and as a member of the Research Affairs Core Committee. She has provided leadership to one of the Society’s most respected publications, the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism (JCEM), for more than a decade. She served on the journal’s editorial board from 1994-1999 and as its associate editor from 1999-2004. She is currently serving a second term as the JCEM associate editor through 2013. Among a long list of awards and honors, she was a 2009 recipient of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Governor’s Citation. She received her MSc and MD from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada. Dr. Rogol will serve a three-year term as Vice President, Physician-in-Practice (2010-2013). He is a professor of clinical pediatrics at the Riley Hospital for Children at the Indiana University School of Medicine and an emeritus professor at the University of Virginia. He is currently serving on the board of The Hormone Foundation and on the editorial board of JCEM. Past leadership roles in the Society include serving on the Nominating Committee from 2005-2008 and as its chair from 2006-2007, membership on Council, Development, Self-Assessment and on the AMSC. In 2009 he was awarded the Saul J. Farber Lecture and the Distinguished Lecture at Schneider Children’s Hospital in Tel Aviv. He received his SB in Chemistry from M.I.T. and his PhD (physiology) and MD from Duke University. Dr. Tannenbaum will serve a three-year term in the Basic Science designated seat on Council. She is a professor of pediatrics and neurology & neurosurgery at McGill University. Active in the Society since the late 1970s, she has served on the editorial boards of JCEM and Endocrinology, and on the Endocrine News advisory panel. She has provided leadership to a number of Society committees including Nominating, Public Communications, Publications, and Finance. She was chair of the Task Force on Alleged Scientific Misconduct in Journals, and served on the Strategic Planning Implementation and Endocrine Society’s Auditors Task Forces. She has won numerous awards and honors in both the United States and Canada. She received her MSc and PhD from McGill University. Dr. Hammer will serve a three-year term as an at-large member of Council. Currently at the University of Michigan, he is the Millie Schembechler Professor for Adrenal Cancer and directs the University’s Endocrine Oncology Program and its Center for Organogenesis. Active in the Society since 2000, he served on the Minorities Affairs Committee and is now serving as a team leader on the AMSC and as a member of the Publications Committee. He is an inaugural editorial board member of the Society’s newest journal, Hormones & Cancer and served on the editorial board of Molecular Endocrinology. Throughout this past decade he has provided leadership to the Society’s youngest members through his service on the Student Affairs Committee, the Mentoring Task Force and as the basic science chair for the 2009 Endocrine Trainee Day. He is a past recipient of the Society’s Merck Senior Fellow Award and the Molecular Endocrinology’s Outstanding Reviewer Award. He received his MD and PhD from Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Shoback will serve a three-year term as an at-large member of Council. She is a professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and a staff physician at the San Francisco Veterans Administration Medical Center. From fellow to full professor, The Endocrine Society has been her professional home for the past 20 years. She has led several Society committees including serving as chair of Special Programs, Clinical Endocrinology Update, and as both clinical and program chair of the AMSC. Her committee membership includes service on Broadcast Steering, Scientific and Educational Program, Development, and The Hormone Foundation. From 2004-2009 she was the associate editor of JCEM. In 2009 she was awarded the John Leonard Lectureship from the University of Washington (Seattle) Department of Medicine and the Teaching Award from the Haile Debas Academy of Medical Educators at UCSF. She received her MD from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
