ENDOCRINE SOCIETY EXPERT CAN PROVIDE PERSPECTIVE ON HYPOACTIVE SEXUAL DESIRE DISORDER

Chevy Chase, MD (May 24, 2010)—  The Endocrine Society’s Vice President of Clinical Science, Nanette Santoro, MD, a leading endocrinologist specializing in obstetrics and gynecology can provide insight into the emerging debate surrounding the potential use of drugs to boost the female libido.

Sparked by the upcoming June 18th meeting of the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Reproductive Health Drugs Advisory Committee to consider endorsing the first pill designed to increase the female libido, public confusion is mounting around female sexual dysfunction—in particular, a condition classified as Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD).

Dr. Santoro, professor and E. Stewart Taylor Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Colorado at Denver, is available to discuss potential health factors that could lead to a lack of female libido and whether or not this is a medical condition that could be addressed through the use of drug therapy.
