Chevy Chase, MD—The Endocrine Society announces the appointment and promotion of three leading association professionals to the position of Senior Director. These appointments reflect the Society’s strong and growing portfolio of programs in support of fundamental biomedical research and the clinical practice of endocrinology.

Diane Scott-Lichter Appointed Senior Director, Publications
Diane Scott-Lichter was appointed Senior Director, Publishing for The Endocrine Society, effective April 16, 2007. Her appointment to the Society’s senior staff came as a result of a nationwide search. Scott-Lichter previously was the Publisher of Medical Journals for Blackwell Publishing in Malden, Mass., where she was responsible for developing a global medical journal acquisition strategy. Prior to this, she was the Director of Publishing for the American Cancer Society (ACS) in Atlanta, Ga., where she developed and managed the ACS’s four professional journals, 30 books, 32 consumer health books, and their multimedia products. She also held journal publishing positions with Elsevier Science Inc., Carden Jennings Publishing Company, and the American Chemical Society.

Scott-Lichter is the current Vice-President of the Council of Science Editors, and has also been a member of its Board of Directors and worked on several of its committees. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Society for Scholarly Publishing, and has served on many of its committees. She also serves on the American Heart Association’s Scientific Publishing Committee, and is co-chair of the 2007 Annual Spring Conference Program held by the International Association of Scientific, Technical and Medical Publishers.

She earned a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in publishing communications from New York University.

As Senior Director for The Endocrine Society, Scott-Lichter will oversee all aspects of production, marketing, and strategic development for the Society’s four scholarly journals, which include the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, Endocrinology, Molecular Endocrinology, and Endocrine Reviews.

Robert Fulcher Appointed Senior Director, Marketing and Communications
Robert Fulcher joined the staff of The Endocrine Society as Senior Director, Marketing and Communications in December 2006. Bob has been professionally engaged in association management since 1977, starting in an entry level publishing position at the American Psychological Association in Washington, D.C., and progressing through several positions over 18 years to become Director of Membership for the association. He was subsequently the Vice President of Membership and Marketing at the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation in Arlington, Va., an organization that develops safety and performance standards for medical devices.

Fulcher also served as Vice President of Membership and Marketing and Publisher of Books and Electronic Products at the American Pharmacists Association in Washington, D.C., where he was responsible for that organization’s overall marketing program, membership development, meetings management, e-business, and strategic planning. Immediately before coming to The Endocrine Society, Bob was the Chief Operating Officer at The American Society of Nephrology, where his primary responsibility was for the business management of the society’s journal program and providing assistance to marketing projects for society programs.

Fulcher has earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). He holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and is currently working toward a master's degree in Health Care Administration at the University of Maryland’s University College.

Nancy Chill Promoted to Senior Director, Corporate Relations
Nancy Chill was promoted to Senior Director, Corporate Relations of The Endocrine Society on February 1, 2007.
