Call for Applications for Editor-in-Chief of Endocrine Reviews

The Endocrine Society is seeking candidates for the position of Editor-in-Chief of Endocrine Reviews for a 5-year term beginning January 2011.  This position requires an individual who is an internationally recognized leader in endocrinology with a broad background in both basic science and clinical medicine as well as editorial experience. 

Endocrine Reviews publishes comprehensive, authoritative review articles covering all aspects of basic, clinical, and translational endocrinology.  Its Impact Factor of 18.562 places it first in the Thomson Reuters category of Endocrinology & Metabolism.

Responsibilities

The Editor-in-Chief of Endocrine Reviews receives editorial and administrative support from The Endocrine Society’s managing editor and editorial office staff as well as an honorarium.  The Editor-in-Chief oversees the peer review process and content development:

  • Selecting his or her associate editors and Editorial Board
  • Providing direction for the journal and its features
  • Participating in meetings of the Publications Core Committee

Applications

Applicants for the position of Editor-in-Chief of Endocrine Reviews should submit the following materials:

  • A brief description of his or her qualifications;
  • A short statement outlining how the candidate plans to oversee the journal, including goals for content, target readership, acceptance criteria, and editorial policy;
  • A statement on the desired number of associate editors, their expertise, and how editorial decisions will be made, the purpose of which is to determine the distribution of tasks and skills as envisioned by the candidate;
  • A discussion of the present status of the journal, opportunities for growth and enhancement, and plans to achieve these goals;
  • A curriculum vitae.
