ICE 2008: International Congress of Endocrinology

The 2008 International Congress of Endocrinology (ICE 2008) was held November 8-12 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. 

The Endocrine Society’s Advisory Panel on Ethics and Conflict of Interest will be presenting a full-day ethics workshop at ICE 2008 on Saturday, November 8.

Full-Day Workshop on Ethics in Research:
Enhancing Integrity in Clinical Research

This state-of-the-art workshop will provide knowledge about the responsible conduct of research and research ethics in the international setting. It will be presented in dynamic, interactive sessions by prominent researchers and ethicists from around the world.

The major aspects of responsible conduct in research will be covered, including: 

  • protection of human subjects
  • data collection, management and sharing
  • conflicts of interest
  • mentor/trainee relationships and responsibilities
  • publication practices and responsible authorship and
  • processes of ethical review

This workshop will provide an understanding of best practice in clinical research and how to navigate today’s complex regulatory environment. It will help attendees understand the key pitfalls in the design and execution of research and how to avoid ethical errors, including research misconduct and malfeasance.

This program will be invaluable for all those involved in the research process, including medical and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, clinical fellows, junior and senior principal investigators, hospital/institutional ethics committee members, nurse coordinators, team members of clinical research trials, residency program directors, and training grant directors.
