Endocrine Trainee Day, Class of 2010


Supported by:  Endo Pharmaceuticals, Genentech, Novo Nordisk Inc., & Pfizer, Inc.

Endocrine Trainee Day is an application-based opportunity offered to graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and clinical fellows. Applicants selected to participate in Endocrine Trainee Day Class of 2010 will receive a travel award and complimentary registration to ENDO 2010.

Endocrine Trainee Day 2010 will provide clinical attendees with the tools to:
  • Discuss state-of-the-art research in endocrinology
  • Demonstrate updated knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of endocrine disorders
  • Employ enhanced skills and practice management techniques to improve patient care

Scientific attendees will be able to:
  • Develop new perspectives in career options for scientists
  • Apply expert advice to maneuver through training and career transitions
  • Navigate the rigors of a career in science, including how to give a seminar, grant writing and becoming a mentor
Class of 2010 Eligibility Requirements:
Nominated Trainees must be currently enrolled as one of the following:
  • A fellow in an adult or pediatric endocrine training program
  • A graduate student in a PhD granting program
  • A basic-science postdoctoral fellow

Participants who attended the program in previous years are not eligible to apply for the Class of 2010.

All nominees must be members of The Endocrine Society. If the nominee is not a member of the Society, they must apply for membership before the January 29 nomination deadline. Fellow/Student Associate membership Information

Class of 2010 Endocrine Trainee Day Preliminary Program Now Available.

Note: This is a preliminary program. Topics may be subject to change. Speakers are to be determined.

Trainee Reception

Friday, June 18 | 5:30 - 7:00 PM
Catch up with colleagues and friends, enjoy light refreshments and join The Endocrine Society in honoring all ENDO travel grant recipients. The reception is taking place immediately after Endocrine Trainee Day on June 18 and will be a great kick-off for ENDO 2010.

Trainee Exchange

Come to the Trainee Exchange at ENDO 2010 to exchange ideas, information and experiences! This space has been established at ENDO to be the hub of activity for all trainees attending the annual meeting and will host the Career Development Workshops. You can also use the Trainee Exchange as a meeting point with colleagues, to plan your day of scientific and career development sessions, or just to enjoy a few minutes of quiet before heading off to your next session.

Career Development Workshops

Career Development Workshops will be held each of the four days in the Trainee Exchange and will provide networking and professional development opportunities for trainees in an intimate environment. All In-Training ENDO Registrants are invited to attend any of the sessions.

Trainee Conversations with Plenary Speakers

Saturday, June 19 through Tuesday, June 22 | 1:00 - 1:45 PM
Ask a thought leader about their personal experiences in science. Targeted specifically to fellows and students, these sessions are intended to be informal discussions with leading researchers in endocrinology.

Presidential Poster Competition 

Saturday, June 19 through Monday, June 21 | 1:30 - 3:30 PM
Trainees who are both first- and presenting-authors of top-scoring abstracts selected for poster presentation will be invited to participate in the competition.  Judging will take place during the scheduled poster sessions.  Be sure to check the box on the abstract submission site if you would like to be considered for the competition.

Research fellowship Awards and Travel Grants

Along with the Endocrine Trainee Day Class of 2010, apply for Travel Grants and Research Fellowship awards beginning November 17!
