Career Development Workshops

Saturday, June 2 - Tuesday, June 5
Metro Toronto Convention Centre - Fellow & Student Lounge

The 9th Annual Career Development Workshop, developed by the Trainee Development Committee, has evolved to further meet the needs of trainees. Rather than a single event that precedes ENDO, this year's Workshop will feature sessions on career development topics scheduled throughout the entire meeting, with two or three sessions scheduled each day. Each session will target specific constituencies as well as provide networking and professional development opportunities in an intimate environment. Trainees can attend any of the following sessions:

Career Opportunities in Industry: A panel discussion with industry speakers from each constituency (physician-in-practice, clinical scientist, basic scientist) will discuss their past work experiences and how to succeed in industry.

Challenges for the International Trainee: This presentation will address issues specific to endocrine trainees in a non-US based training program.

Ethics in Publishing: The information in this lecture will help you navigate the process of ethically publishing your endocrine research.

Interviewing Skills: This informative session will assist you in successfully interviewing for each advancement in your career.

Meet the Editors-in-Chief: Network with the Editors-in-Chief of The Endocrine Society's peer-reviewed journals.

Meet the President & President-Elect: Network with President Leonard Wartofsky and President-Elect Margaret Shupnik.

Meet the Trainee Development Committee: Find out what it takes to participate in Society leadership. Meet past, present and in-coming members of the Trainee Development Committee - the committee comprised of and chaired by trainees.

Mock Study Section: A panel will go through the step-by-step process of study section.

Setting Up a Lab: Learn the necessary skills to set up your first lab, including the unique challenges and the common pitfalls to avoid.

These sessions are free to all ENDO registrants. Contact: Colleen Gorman at cgorman@endo-society.org or 301.951.2611.
