The American Neuroendocrine Society (ANS) sponsored Neuroendocrine Workshop on Stress will take place from June 12th to June 15th, 2008 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in San Rafael, CA. Major areas to be addressed at the workshop include stress and epigenetics, neuroadaptation and plasticity induced by stress; and sex-related differences in stress responsivity. In addition, a session will celebrate Dr. Mary Dallman’s contributions to the neuroendocrinology of stress on the occasion of her retirement from UCSF. During the 2008 Workshop, Dr. Bruce McEwen will deliver a keynote address and a session will be devoted to new approaches for the study of stress neuroendocrinology. The Conference on the Adrenal Cortex has run every two years since 1984. The goal is to present state-of-the-art research in areas relevant to the adrenal. This conference will explore emerging research on the role of altered glucocorticoid receptor sensitivity in pathogenesis of disease. Molecular mechanisms of glucocorticoid resistance and sensitivity, implications for pathogenesis of clinical syndromes and side-effects of glucocorticoid therapy and implications for new therapeutic targets will be discussed.
