The Strategic Plan and resulting Bylaws amendments approved changed the way the Society's Nominating Committee is selected, from election to appointment by Council. The Nominating Committee is now appointed by the Council, based on suggestions submitted by the membership.
Council is soliciting your suggestions now for names of individuals to be appointed to the Nominating Committee. Please review the criteria and requirements before submitting your suggestions.
Criteria and Requirements for Nominating Committee Members
Criteria Members of the Nominating Committee shall:
- Be active members in good standing for 5 years or more
- Have served on committees and/or Council
- Have credibility in the Society, based on professional experience as well as contributions to the Society
- Be familiar with the needs of all segments of the Society whether by specific area of interest, stage of career, academic or industrial affiliation, etc
- Have a keen insight into the leadership potential of volunteers from various components of the Society
Requirements
- No member of the Nominating Committee shall be a candidate for office during his/her tenure on the Committee.
- Past officer members of the Nominating Committee (3 of the 9 members on the Committee must have been Society officers) must have served previously as President, Vice President, or Secretary-Treasurer.
- Nominating Committee members may serve only one three year term; however, officer members may have previously served as elected or appointed members of the Nominating Committee.
