Edwin B. Astwood Award Lecture

Keith R. Yamamoto, PhD
University of California, San Francisco

By cloning the glucocorticoid receptor cDNA, Dr. Keith Yamamoto initiated modern nuclear receptor molecular biology. Among many pioneering accomplishments, he showed that nuclear receptors interpret the specific DNA sequences they bind, use heat-shock proteins as chaperones, and recruit chromatin-remodeling coregulators. He also made heroic contributions to the biomedical research community.
