Robert M. Carey, MD MACP, President of The Endocrine Society, spoke at the World Health Care Congress 3rd Annual Chronic Care and Prevention Congress on May 20, 2009. The conference brought together health care thought leaders from distinct shareholder groups to exchange ideas, share experiences, and discuss new and better ways to treat chronic disease. President Carey joined a panel of experts in a discussion of the state of chronic care and outlined the efforts of The Endocrine Society and The Hormone Foundation to provide up-to-date information to physicians caring for patients with chronic diseases, such as diabetes, osteoporosis, and obesity, and to patients who live with these diseases. President Carey’s participation in the conference helped to strengthen the Society’s and the Foundation’s standing as a leading source of information on chronic conditions and to further the knowledge that these are endocrine diseases.
