Members of the Obama-Biden Transition Team contacted The Endocrine Society to seek its input regarding opportunities and challenges for biomedical research advocacy. The Transition Team does not make actual recommendations about programs, policies, or personnel; rather, it collects information that will help the new administration define priorities and set policies. The Health and Human Services Agency Review Team, which includes Alta Charo, Francis Collins, Greg Simon, and Harold Varmus, contacted The Endocrine Society to provide its opinion on the top issues that the Transition Team should convey to the new administration. While many issues are important to consider when setting biomedical research policy, the Society focused its comments on biomedical research funding, future research direction, endocrine disrupting chemical policy, minority health disparities, and workforce issues. To view the Society's comments, please click here.

The Society will be submitting comments to the Transition Team on issues of importance to clinicians-in-practice prior to President-Elect Obama's inauguration. If there are particular issues on which you would like the Society to comment, please contact Holly Whelan, Associate Director of Health Policy at hwhelan@endo-society.org
