New Society Benefit: Clinicians to Receive Drug Safety Alerts Electronically
|
Endocrine Insider
The Endocrine Society will be partnering with the Health Care Notification Network (HCNN) to offer a new benefit to Society members—electronic delivery of drug safety alerts from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). HCNN is governed by the non-profit iHealth Alliance which has partnered with Medem, Inc to deliver drug safety and shortage information to physicians via e-mail. Currently, physicians receive these alerts through the U.S. mail, resulting in a delay of up to two weeks from the time the alert is released to the time the physician receives the notice, which has the potential to negatively affect the quality of patient care. The email delivery fulfills new FDA guidance for electronic communication of patient safety notification. The Endocrine Society will contact its members in the coming weeks with further information on this new benefit. Questions about the HCNN may be directed to Stephanie Kutler, Associate Director of Government & Professional Affairs, at skutler@endo-society.org. |
