Recently, Health Care Notification Network (HCNN), provider of electronic FDA alerts to US-based practitioners who are enrolled, announced its merger with Physicians’ Desk Reference (PDR). Effective immediately, the new company is called PDR Network. The Endocrine Society developed a partnership with HCNN in 2008 to offer Society members the benefit of receiving important FDA notifications electronically, and this benefit will not change with the merger of HCNN and PDR. In addition, PDR Network will continue to be governed by the iHealth Alliance, protecting the rights, security and privacy of its users.

  • The merger of these two companies will have several positive impacts for members of The Endocrine Society:
  • PDR is the leading provider of pharmaceutical information to physicians in book form and online.
  • HCNN is the only FDA-compliant network for delivering product safety notices to prescribers electronically.
  • The combination of PDR and HCNN creates a single company that will provide a complete, end-to-end service.

As the number of medication alerts, warnings, recalls and patient safety programs expands, it will be useful to have a single network to access FDA-approved product information.
