Endocrinology Underrepresented in Important Physician Practice Survey; Please Participate

Endocrine Insider
The Endocrine Society, the American Medical Association (AMA), and more than 70 other organizations are conducting a comprehensive multi-specialty survey of America's physician practices. At this time, endocrinology has just 34 completed surveys; the goal is to collect at least 100 responses per specialty. Without an adequate number of responses, the survey data will not be informative or helpful to the practice of endocrinology. The results of this survey will be used to positively influence national decision makers on Medicare payment policies. In fact, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has indicated that it will use the results of this study to help determine physician payment in the future. As a result, the portion of the study pertaining to practice expenses is particularly important and must be completed accurately and in its entirety. dmrkynetec, the survey firm working with the Society and AMA, has recently broadened its sample of endocrinologists in an effort to reach the 100 response threshold, and a postcard was subsequently mailed to members whose participation has been requested. Endocrinologists receiving a postcard should alert their staff to their willingness to participate in the survey. The importance of accepting incoming calls, faxes, or emails from dmrkynetec should be stressed. Questions about the survey should be directed to dmrkynetec at (877) 816-8940 where members or staff should ask to speak with an executive interviewer about the 2008 Physician Practice Information Survey. Healthcare providers can find out if they've been selected to participate by clicking on this link: https://doanemrwebsc.com/onlinesurveys/amas/. Because a new survey sample of endocrinologists has been taken, it is important to check the website where instructions are provided to those selected to take the survey. The Endocrine Society appreciates its members' participation in this important initiative to help ensure appropriate and fair reimbursement for the practice of endocrinology. |
