At the invitation of the White House, Endocrine Society President Robert M. Carey attended the White House Regional Forum on Health Reform in Greensboro, North Carolina on March 31st.  Nancy Ann DeParle, Director of the White House Office for Health Reform, led the discussion along with North Carolina’s Governor Bev Perdue. The town hall meeting format provided patient advocates, physicians, and non-profit organizations the opportunity to present their recommendations for health reform to the Obama Administration. Dr. Carey’s participation in this forum gives The Endocrine Society the opportunity to be active participants in the health reform debate and opens the door to future discussions with the White House and Department of Health and Human Services on issues of importance to practicing endocrinologists, as well as those engaged in basic and clinical research.
