CSR Seeks Nominations for Award, Provides Updates on Peer Review
|
Endocrine Insider In the latest issue of peer review notes, the Center for Scientific Review (CSR) calls for nominations for the 2008 Marcy Speer Award. The annual award was created last year to honor reviewers who have provided outstanding service to peer review at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Anyone from the scientific or review communities, including CSR and NIH staff, can nominate an individual for this award. Endocrine Society members are encouraged to nominate individuals whose service to peer review has been exceptional. Other items in the January 2008 issue of peer review notes include a report about the series of Open Houses held by CSR last year—which Society representatives attended—and a progress update on the trans-NIH effort to enhance peer review, which included meetings with stakeholders also attended by Society representatives. These endeavors were reported in previous issues of Endocrine Insider (click here to read the stories on the Open Houses and the Peer Review Meeting). Society participation in such critical forums ensures that the voice of endocrinologists is heard. The Endocrine Society will continue to represent its members in discussion and planning processes that affect their professional lives.
