Texas Signatories Needed: Petition for Injectable Corticosteroids on EMS Vehicles
|
Endocrine Insider Texas-based members are encouraged to consider signing a petition calling for emergency response vehicles to be required to carry injectable corticosteroids and protocols for administering them to patients with adrenal insufficiency. The petition was drafted by the Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia Research Education & Support (CARES) Foundation, which needs the support of Texas-based signatories before representatives go before the state board on February 24, 2010. This is part of a larger ongoing effort by the CARES Foundation to ensure emergency response vehicles throughout the United States carry the supplies needed to appropriately treat people with adrenal insufficiency. The petition reads: "We, the undersigned Texas healthcare professionals, urge the immediate inclusion of treatment for adrenal insufficiency in Texas emergency medical system (EMS) protocols as well as injectable glucocorticoids on formularies state-wide." To sign on, send an email with your name, title, and affiliation to gretchen@caresfoundation.org. The petition showing signatories as of February 3 can be accessed through the following link: More information about the CARES Foundation national campaign is available here:
