Last week, The Endocrine Society’s scientific statement on endocrine-disrupting chemicals was mentioned in both The New York Times and Time’s “Ecocentric Blog” as the media responded to Canada’s formal declaration of bisphenol A (BPA) as a toxic chemical.

Canadian officials said the declaration doesn’t constitute an immediate ban on BPA, but signals the beginning of a multi-step process to better regulate the chemical. Both news articles question whether the United States may issue a similar declaration in the future. In their coverage of the potential harm of BPA, both articles cite the Society’s scientific statement on endocrine-disrupting chemicals.
