On Thursday, July 15, the House Labor/Health & Human Services/Education (LHHS) Appropriations Subcommittee took up the appropriations bill that will determine funding for the National Institutes of Health in fiscal year 2011, and the Senate LHHS Appropriations Subcommittee is expected to consider the same bill later this month. The Endocrine Society needs the help of endocrinologists to ensure that funding for important, potentially life-saving endocrine-related research is available in the FY 2011 budget and that the economic benefits of the research started under the stimulus funds are not lost.

Society members are asked to contact their members of Congress today and ask for their support of $37 billion for NIH in FY 2011 to prepare for the post-stimulus era and ensure the steady and sustainable growth necessary to continue building on advances made by scientists during the past decade.
