NIH Releases Mandatory Public Access Policy
In response to language in U.S. Public Law 110-161—the omnibus spending package signed into law by President Bush in December—the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has implemented a new policy on public access of NIH-funded research.

 
Contact Your Senators in Support of DXA Testing
Representative Shelley Berkley (D-NV) recently introduced H.R. 4206, the Medicare Fracture Prevention and Osteoporosis Testing Act in support of dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) and vertebral fracture assessment (VFA) services, and the Society is working toward introduction of a companion bill in the Senate.

 
NIH Reissues CTSA RFA; NICHD Introduces New Funding Opportunity
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has reissued its request for applications (RFA) for Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA). The reissued RFA indicates two application cycles for the upcoming year, with application deadlines of June 17 and October 21.

 
Society Requests Member Input on Medicare Part D Prior Authorization
In follow-up to a resolution passed by the American Medical Association’s House of Delegates at the annual meeting in June 2007, The Endocrine Society requests the assistance of its physician members in gathering information about Medicare Part D drug plan’s prior authorization practices.
