NIDDK Type 1 Diabetes Pathfinder Award
The Endocrine Society encourages its eligible researcher members in the field of type 1 diabetes to consider applying for a Type 1 Diabetes Pathfinder Award from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). The RFA for the award may be accessed at the following link: http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-DK-08-001.html.

The goal of the Type 1 Diabetes Pathfinder Award is to support creative new investigators who propose innovative new research approaches that have the potential to produce a major impact on important problems in biomedical and behavioral research relevant to type 1 diabetes and its complications. The awards will be for up to a total of $1.5 million in direct costs over a five-year period plus applicable indirect costs to be determined at the time of award. NIDDK expects to make up to 8 awards in 2008.

The application deadline is April 10, 2008, and funding decisions and awards will be made in September 2008.
