AAMC Now Accepting Nominations for Annual Awards

The Endocrine Society encourages its members to consider submitting nominations for one or more of the annual awards given by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). The awards acknowledge outstanding contributions in the areas of medical education, medical care, and biomedical research. The AAMC is currently accepting nominations for several awards, including those described below.

The Abraham Flexner Award for Distinguished Service to Medical Education is given to an individual for extraordinary contributions to the medical education community. The award is a medal and a cash prize of $10,000. Nominations are due May 4th.

The Alpha Omega Alpha Robert J. Glaser Distinguished Teacher Award recognizes the significant contributions to medical education made by gifted teachers. The multiple-winner award is a cash prize of $10,000. Nominations are due May 31st.

The Award for Distinguished Researchers in the Biomedical Sciences honors outstanding biomedical research related to health and disease and includes a crystal award and $5,000. Nominations are due May 4th.

The David E. Rogers Award is given to an individual who has made major contributions to improving the health and health care of the American people. The award of $10,000 and crystal presentation piece is supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Nominations are due May 4th.

The Humanism in Medicine Award recognizes a faculty member who exemplifies the qualities of a caring and compassionate mentor in the teaching and advising of medical students. The award is $5,000 and is supported by the Pfizer medical Humanities Initiative. Nominations are due April 16th.

The Outstanding Community Service Award recognizes a longstanding, major institutional commitment to addressing community needs. The award is an engraved crystal presentation piece. Nominations are due May 4th.
