Alert- Shortage of Apidra® SoloSTAR® Pens Expected

Sanofi has announced that a technical incident at the company’s Frankfurt facility will result in a temporary manufacturing delay of Apidra® SoloSTAR® (insulin glulisine [rDNA origin] injection) pens affecting availability starting late October 2011. Sanofi expects to achieve normal supply levels by the first quarter of 2012. 

Providers are being advised that no products are being recalled. The company’s investigations and controls have confirmed that none of Sanofi’s insulin products currently on the market were affected by this incident.
