Alert: Urge Congress to Block Medicare Cuts and Repeal the SGR

December 5, 2011

With the failure of the Joint Committee on Deficit Reduction to reach a consensus on how to reduce spending by $1.2 trillion, the question of how to address the flawed Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula and impending Medicare physician payment cuts remains undecided.  Unless Congress acts before the end of the year, physicians will be hit with a 27 percent cut to their Medicare payments.  And unless they are able to find a permanent replacement for the SGR, physicians will again be faced with the uncertainty of more Medicare cuts next year.

Your members of Congress need to hear from you now that they must address the impending payment cuts and identify a permanent solution to the flawed SGR!  The uncertainty of the current payment system results in an environment that threatens physicians’ ability to continue to operate and grow their practice, thereby limiting patients’ access to their physicians. A letter, which you may customize, has been created for you at the link below.
